Mets: Sweep Subway Series Double Header in Bronx & Shock Yankees

[Box Score – Game 1]

[Box Score – Game 2]

All was going according to plan on impromptu Jackie Robinson Day in the Bronx on Friday. This is where the New York Mets and New York Yankees were playing a double-header. Then, the Yankees led it 4-1 and were cruising in getting ready to snap a 5-game losing streak.

However, Pete Alonso woke up the Mets.

Certainly, the worst was over and the Yankees would snap the skid in game two. However, that did not prove to be true in the nightcap. In the bottom of the 7th with the Mets playing as the home team at Yankee Stadium, Ahmed Rosario stepped to the dish.

And just like that, the New York Yankees, a team that entered the 2020 season as overwhelming favorites to win the 2020 World Series; have found themselves in the midst of a 7-game losing streak.

On the contrast, the Mets are right in the thick of things once again. At 15-16, they’re just three games back of the Atlanta Braves. With a month to play, it’s anyone’s division in the NL East.
