The Pittsburgh Pirates have made their own history

We told you it would happen – and it happened.

In dramatic fashion, the Pirates went into Texas where they had previously never won a game and beat Yu Darvish 1-0 on a Pedro Alvarez double. When Mark Melancon induced a ground ball to second baseman Neil Walker, it ended 21 long years of futility.

Gerrit Cole threw a gem of a game and the possibly MVP Andrew McCutchen had two hits.

I mean, take a look at the list of shit things that have happened upon this franchise since they last had a winning season. It’s unbelievable. It’s easy to forget some of them – though I still remember Al Martin’s multiple-marriages. It’s easy to forget a lot of these things because we weren’t living the nightmare, unless you were a Pirates fan. We were the grandparents that could pass the baby back to the parents when it was bad. There are so many kids alive who are Pirates fans that have never witnessed a winning season.

As MLB Network stated after last night’s game, this is the biggest and best story in baseball. We agree with that. This is great to see. In a few weeks the Pirates will inevitably clinch a playoff spot and they’ll get their swing at the postseason. This is a high character team who willed their way to this point. Congratulations to the Pirates and their fan base. We are truly happy to see it.
