"I, am the Greatest of all time"

It was on this date in 1991 when Rickey Henderson passed Lou Brock as Major League Baseball’s all-time stolen base leader. I remember it like it was yesterday really. 939.

Henderson was one of those players who I always loved to watch. I always wanted to end up the Oakland A’s in Little League so I could pretend to be a little white Rickey Henderson, and steal bases like he did. The guy stole 66 bases as a 39-year old. After his record breaking steal, he had nearly 500 more left in him. He touched home plate 2,295 times. He played in 3,081 games.

There will never be another Rickey Henderson.
