The Boston Red Sox have been kind of miserly this off-season. That is, until today.
The Red Sox have signed Rafael Devers to an 11-year contract extension that will pay him $331 million dollars. Moreover, it goes down as the sixth largest deal in baseball history.
Why Rafael Devers' $331 million extension is a move the Red Sox had to make https://t.co/H6GVO3gQZJ

By contrast, Yordan Alvarez got a 6-year, $115 million dollar extension. He’s a better hitter in my opinion moving forward than Devers, and he’s slightly younger. Still, the man we have affectionately called ‘Chico’ since his inception is front and center in Beantown until Aliens are in the stands and series are played on planet Mars it looks like.
Devers is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he hit .295 with 27 home runs and 88 RBI.
