Padres: Fernando Tatis Jr. Homers off Walker Buehler in Injury Return Epic

[Box Score]

It’s weird, no one would have expected Fernando Tatis Jr. to return from the injured list in a mere 10 days, and even a fewer amount of people would have had Tatis Jr. homering off Walker Buehler to give the Padres the lead in the epic kick off game of the series of the 2021 season thus far.

However on Friday night, that’s exactly what happened.

At the time it put the Padres ahead 2-1. I watched this whole game, and while it was sloppy it was one of the most entertaining regular season games I have seen in a long time.

Right now the Los Angeles Dodgers are more lucky then they are good. The Padres seemingly had this game won several times only to give it away because they gripped too tight against a subpar Dodgers team that scores a bunch of junk runs and gets a few clutch hits and a lot of clutch bounces their way.

In fact, one of these bounces was Tatis Jr. throwing a ball up the right field line on a ground ball he just should have put in his pocket.

Alas, Tatis Jr. returned, hit an epic home run that became meaningless after the moment, and the Dodgers escaped with another lucky victory after a series of improbable events.
