Mets: Pete Alonso Goes Double Dong in 14-1 Blowout Against Phillies

[Box Score]

Indeed, it’s been a long 2020 even in the COVID-19 shortened season for the New York Mets’ sophomore slugger Pete Alonso.

Still, the guy has 10 home runs in a little over a month of play. Now, his career total sits at 63. Of course that is after he hit two monstrous home runs against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday in a 14-1 blowout Mets victory.

First, he touched up Aaron Nola. This home run looks like a true Alonso home run we became accustomed to seeing in 2019.

Then, he put the finishing touches on Philadelphia with his second of the game.

All of this took place with Jacob deGrom being a footnote in the action while striking out double digits in the win. Obviously, the Mets are in dire need of wins sitting at 19-22 and 2.5 games out of a Wildcard spot. They must keep winning at a decent clip to leapfrog the other teams ahead of them in just a few weeks.
