Blue Jays Win Taijuan Walker’s Debut Behind Big Vlad Jr. Night

[Box Score]

Once again, the Buffalo Blue Jays of Toronto are getting hot. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got them on the board with a rocket off the wall in left field at Sahlen Field, and from there they never looked back against the Baltimore Orioles.

Of course, Guerrero extended his hitting streak to yet another game. His average is quickly climbing, as he singled later on in the contest and scored a run.

However the big story in this one was the shot in the arm provided by Taijuan Walker. Walker made his first start for the Blue Jays after being acquired in a trade, and he figures to just be a rental piece for a team that now finds itself at 17-14 on the year and looking at making the final playoff spot in the American League.

From here, the Jays just need to stay steady and avoid long losing streaks. If they can do that, they should gain a wildcard series with someone that would serve as great experience for their young core. By then, they’ll have Bo Bichette back in an already scary lineup, and they’ll be able to run out Hyun-Jin Ryu along with Walker and a third starter that gets hot.
