Mets: Pete Alonso Has Monster Night For New York in Miami

[Box Score]

We like Pete Alonso.

Thus far, it’s been a tough year for Pete Alonso. However that may have come to a screeching halt on Monday night in Miami. Indeed, Alonso was on base five times. This included two very Alonso-esque home runs to left field, two walks, and a single for good measure.

Here are those two home runs, which represent his fourth and fifth round-trippers of the season.

This one followed up a bomb from Robinson Cano, who hit two of his own home runs.

In all, the Mets took down Miami with double digits behind a start from Robert Gsellman. This is kind of what you figure that the Mets will do. A lot of one-up, one-down baseball with some unexpected eruptions from Alonso and company.

They’re just good enough to be interesting, just bad enough to still remind you that they’re the Mets. Still, we’re happy that Alonso is still hitting dingers.
