The Toronto Blue Jays have had a busy Saturday.
While they hosted Blue Jays’ Winterfest at Rogers Centre, they unveiled new flashy uniforms. Furthermore, they made a move on Saturday too. The organization signed Joe Panik to a minor-league contract Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Per a source Jays have signed second baseman Joe Panik to a minor league deal with an invitation to the main camp.

Obviously, this is a good little depth move. Recently general manager Ross Atkins said that the team wasn’t done making moves; and this speaks towards that. If there is an injury of some sort, Panik could be a guy who fills a role at a few different spots. He’s a good pro for a lot of the young Blue Jays to learn from.
Decent depth signing, obviously. Jays hoping Panik can return to 2017 form when he hit .288 with 53 RBI and 10 HRs. https://t.co/rjCp5BvoT3

Finally, hearing Mark Shapiro talk today at the Winterfest event after the unveiling of the uniforms was cool. He speaks like a pretty wise baseball guy, and Toronto’s recent moves seem to suggest they believe they have more than a shot at surprising folks in 2020.
