Mets and Pistol Pete Honor September 11th

[Box Score]

[Mets Merized]

Pete Alonso and the Mets honored 9/11 by scoring nine runs and collecting 11 hits. For the third straight day they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in New York at Citi Field. Pete Alonso didn’t get any knocks, but he added a walk and a run.

Stephen Matz went to 10-8 on the year by throwing six shutout innings, so he’s working out as a starter after all. Jeff McNeil hit two homers to bring his total to 20 on the year.

Furthermore, J.D. Davis, Todd Frazier, and Brandon Nimmo all got in on the act. The Mets have to keep going. They are two games back of the second Wildcard spot; tied with the Philadelphia Phillies. From there, the Cubs and Brewers are tied with one another for the second Wildcard spot with the Nationals atop everyone.

I really feel like something wild is going to go down in the NL by season’s end with all parties involved. I really like this Mets team, and I hope they get it done.
