Mets Steal Doubleheader in Queens

[Game One – Monday] [Game Two – Monday]

Pete Alonso and the New York Mets are absolutely surging. It started on the day I left the east coast. I was planning to go to the doubleheader in Flushing. I elected not to go, and when I got home; Pete Alonso hit a game winning homer.

In fact, on Tuesday; the Mets won again 5-0 over the Marlins. And Alonso hit his 36th home run of the year off poor Hector Noesi.

Guy is an absolute monster. However, he wasn’t done. On Wednesday, for the third straight day and in another Mets win; he hit his 37th bomb of the year.

Alonso isn’t the prettiest player to look at. But he’s going to destroy Cody Bellinger’s 2017 NL rookie-record mark of 39 home runs in a few days at this pace. He’s reminding me of another 2017 rookie, Aaron Judge. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Alonso make a run at Judge’s all time record of 52.

Finally, I expect the Mets to talk down the Wildcard spot in high-drama and maybe be a pain in the ass for some teams in the NL playoff field. It wouldn’t be the worst story in the world. The Mets have some star power beyond Alonso – and let’s face it – they draw eyes to the sport for being such a mess half the time.

Let’s see Alonso and the fellas in Queens finish this off and give us something interesting to watch in Autumn.
