Bubba Starling Day is Friday

Tomorrow, Bubba Starling [scouting report here] will make his MLB debut. It’s interesting, I thought Starling would be one of the top prospects of the 2011 draft when the Royals took him fifth overall.

In the same light as a Nick Senzel – it seemed like Starling was the can’t miss position player or bat that didn’t go first overall but would be the best player in the early part of the draft.

While he was just 18 then – he’s now 26 – it seems like this is such a Royals thing. They stick with an Alex Gordon forever. They bring up Starling at age 26. He makes the big leagues albeit as a late-bloomer, however that’s better than not making it at all.

It will be interesting to see if Starling can stick and carve out a few semi-productive years in Kansas City. After all, he was on the verge of quitting the sport altogether.
