Jay Bruce named NL Player of the Week

Jay Bruce garners the NL Player of the Week honors for the final week in the season.

Jay Bruce was named National League Player of the Week. Bruce hit .444 with four home runs and a 1.111 slugging percentage for the week. The big blow, of course, was the walk-off home run that clinched a playoff berth.

“It’s always good to get locked in, especially going into the playoffs,” Bruce said. “You want to get off to good start and play your best.”

I think this is obviously the first of many, and Bruce could have been a candidate for player of the last two months of the season. Hell, maybe even player of the second half.

Hard to believe in this week, he actually had a game with a golden sombrero, as well as 5 straight PA’s with a strikeout.
