The Vote for Manny campaign is failing

The rush to get Manny Ramirez to the All-Star Game in St. Louis is not working out so well.

Last Monday, Ramirez ranked fourth, trailing Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran by just 34,080 votes for third place and the final spot in the starting outfield. Ryan Braun of the Brewers and the Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano were 1-2 in the voting last week.

This week, everyone in the top five other than Braun was leapfrogged by the Phillies‘ Raul Ibanez, who surged from sixth last week to second. He trails Braun by 91,000 votes. Ibanez, who has never made an All-Star team, is batting .332 with 17 homers and 46 RBIs and a 1.079 OPS.

Vote for Manny says to get voting. He wants Manny to be part of the All-Star Game to see the egg on Bud Selig’s face. We still think there are better ways to let Selig embarrass himself. I mean, it’s inevitable. There’s a better then even chance that if Ramirez gets voted into the game that he will decline to go anyways.

We don’t understand what all the hoopla is about.
