Things have gotten ugly in a hurry for the Indians

People all around baseball and the blog world are putting laying down the final rocks a and tapping in the R.I.P. tombstone for the Cleveland Indians after their most recent loss last night. The Tribe just can’t seem to string anything together when it comes to going after a substantial winning streak.

Last night was one of those games you just know a point of no return was crossed. I honestly wouldn’t have been surprised if they would have fired Eric Wedge immediately after the game. He brought in Luis Vizcaino (who was signed basically off the street) to come in and give up a walk off home run to B.J. Upton.

This is on the heels of getting a guy up to the big leagues named Matt LaPorta; who a lot of people consider to be like another Jim Thome in the city of Cleveland. You don’t bring up a LaPorta unless you’re going to play him every day. He played in 2 of his first 6 games he was up at the big league level.

This morning I wake up to talk radio and people saying that the Indians should bring Mike Hargrove back. And why not. This season is a disaster and as I said, at this point there’s no turning back for Eric Wedge and the Indians. We were all very wrong about them. It’s fine to pass judgement, this is a bad ballclub because the owner simply did not go out and spend the money that they needed to have spent on starting pitching. Cliff Lee and Fausto Carmona were their only hope, and they’ve been very mediocre.

Hell, a sure sign that it’s time for a change at the managerial post? Eric Wedge said last night that: “He’s tired of seeing him (Jensen Lewis) pitch”.

That’s just not something you say in sound managerial mind. That reminds me of when Piniella was threatening to start bullpen guys and go a pitcher every 2 innings to complete a ballgame.

So on this fine saturday we’ve got the dead Indians on FOX’s national game of the week. Put the damn Reds on there once, huh? For Christ Sakes! They’ve got flex scheduling in the NFL. Do it in baseball. Novel concept.

I like the Indians. Grady Sizemore is fun to watch; but he’s hitting in the .220’s. There are a lot of things wrong with this team. Derek Shelton and Eric Wedge probably just need to be packing their belongings.
