When the spotlight is out, Jeter usually shines

[Box Score]

Didn’t you just have a feeling that Derek Jeter would play a factor in the Yankees first ever win at their new stadium? How about a home run that counts as the game winner? Jeter did exactly that, homering in the 8th inning as the run that held up in a 6-5 final.

In this game, Johnny Damon, Robinson Cano, and Mark Texeira also homered. Joba Chamberlain went 4 innings plus allowing only 1 earned run.

There is some speculation that this new park is going to be playing as a homer happy kingdome. In 35+ innings played at the new stadium (exhibition included) there has been a copious amount of home runs.

You have to be encouraged with the way Robinson Cano is hitting. Although Cano was only 1 for 4 today, he looks like he is returning to that 2006 form when he hit .340 for the year.
