Pat the Bat signs with Tampa Bay

One of the biggest bad guys in baseball, and Ray Liotta look-alike Pat Burrell has signed with the Tampa Bay Rays. The deal is 2-years, $16 million dollars. This was after Burrell turned down a 2-year, $22 million dollar deal to stay at home and play for the World Champion Phillies.

Best guess? Burrell doesn’t like playing the field, he likes to hit. This will allow him to get some at bats as a Designated Hitter where he will probably profit the most career-wise. He also probably didn’t like Philadelphia, not that we can fault him for that; but he will probably enjoy a more laid back atmosphere with the country club/retirement environment in Tampa Bay.

And this 2-year stint probably ends with Burrell not liking the Tampa Bay environment either.
