They’re just Young Guns

The Reds built a nice little lead tonight, on the strength of a Joey Votto bases-loaded double scoring three, and a Jay Bruce towering 2-run home run to right field. Bruce knew he got it all, but humbly ran with his head down like the great Mick.

But as the Reds often do, they let this one slip away. Austin Kearns collected 3 hits, saving his best game all season for the Reds. Ronnie Belliard homered for Gods sakes. The bullpen which has been so solid of late allowed 7 runs and lost the game for Josh Fogg.

What you just have you understand is that these guys have to learn how to win together. It’s a young group. If you’re the type of fan that I am, you are past the point of frustration. You just have you realize (and hope) that next year these games won’t slip away because of these experiences. Every winner was at this point at some stage in the process. These young pups will grow up eventually. Or so we hope.

Meanwhile, you can’t knock the reference to one of the finest American westerns there ever was.
