Hiroki Kuroda sounds like a nasty sore throat

Dodgers 3, Braves 0

Hiroki Kuroda was (in manager Joe Torre’s words) ‘close to perfect’. Kuroda gave up just 1 hit in firing a complete game. Mark Teixeira doubled to begin the 8th inning to keep Kuroda from history. The Dodgers win allowed them to move into a tie with the Arizona Diamondbacks for 1st place in the AL West.
The Mets built a 10-1 lead on the Phillies only to watch it collapse and barely hang on. Howard, Burrell, and Chase Utley all homered for the Phils, while David Wright homered and drove in 4 runs for the Mets. The Mets took 3 of 4 in the wrap around weekend series and are now just 2.5 games out of first place in the AL East.
The Red Sox held the Twins scoreless and Manny Ramirez singled home that little prick Dustin Pedroia in the bottom of the 8th inning, and like most games that enter the 9th with the Red Sox leading, the rest is history. Jon Papelbon entered the game and locked it down for his 26th save as the Sawks pick up a game on the Rays.
Josh Hamilton drove in his 85th run of the season, but the Rangers were no match for the first place Angels and Ervin Santana (who is now 10-3 on the season). The Angels scored 8 runs in the first two innings, paced by Vladi Guerrero and Tori Hunter home runs.
