Pretty sure Joey Votto never forgets this day

The Reds did three things today that I didn’t they were capable of doing. They hit (7 home runs to be exact), they pitched (Edison Volquez threw 7 shutout innings), and they took two of three ballgames from the Chicago Cubbies.
Joey Votto hit 3 home runs himself, by the sixth inning. Adam Dunn also joined in on the fun with a home run in the 2nd inning, one of four hit off Cubs starter Jon Lieber in the inning.
Edison Volquez improves to 5-1 on the season while lowering his ERA to nearly 1.00 on the dot. He also threw 118 pitches, including 95 MPH heat to the final batter he faced.
And this is why people believe that the Reds can contend, they’ve got arms. They’ve got hitters. They just have to go out and do it. While I don’t believe this team has anything major in the cards, at some point this season they’re going to get on a serious roll and beat the shit out of teams. Remember I said it.
