We should probably talk about this Pirate while the talking is still good to talk

At press time, Nate Mclouth is hitting .339 with 7 HR and 27 runs and 25 RBI, along with 3 stolen bases. And at press time, the Pirates actually have a player other teams would covet. It’s been a breakout year for Mclouth who earlier in the season had a 21-game hitting streak which is the longest of its type this season.

You have to hope for the Pirates sake (and the few fans they have left) that Mclouth is legit and this whole thing works out, don’t you? Mclouth is still a young enough player that he could be the start of a Pirates nucleus. If they can build around him, in four or five years when he’s starting to wear down, they might compete for like, 2nd place in the NL Central (long before the Cincinnati Reds do).

In all seriousness, we made fun of our best friend for selecting Mclouth in our fantasy draft. Shortly after that he released him only to pick him back up and reap the benefits of it for the past month plus. We’re happy for our friend, and we’re happy for Mclouth.
