Toronto Sweeps Texas With Guerrero Jr. Home Run 31

[Box Score – Game 1]
[Box Score – Game 2]

The Toronto Blue Jays are sadly winding things down in Buffalo and in a nice twist, they will return to Toronto to finish their season. Their Saturday matinee with the Texas Rangers was rained out. Therefore, a pair of seven inning games on Sunday and the Blue Jays decided to bash Texas’ brains in again.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had one hit on the day, it was his 31st home run of the season. Of course, Shohei Ohtani felt the heat and hit home run 34 for the Angels in his game.

In game one, Lourdes Gurriel hit a grand slam, and Hyun-Jin Ryu threw seven shutout innings to earn the victory.

Right now, the Blue Jays have a three game series coming with the Boston Red Sox to begin the week. From there they will look to remain in the playoff chase, sitting at four games over .500 which is really where they have kind of settled at several high points during the season.

Without question, it’s a fun team with a lot of exciting pieces and they’re absolutely loaded in the farm system. All throughout Guerrero Jr.’s time with the team, Toronto should have a really good home grown nucleus and win a lot of games.
