Blue Jays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Christens Buffalo With Home Run 17

[Box Score]

While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has had plenty of three hit games in his career, he had never had a four hit game until Monday night. As I entered the fine free state of Florida on Tuesday, Guerrero Jr. was playing his first game at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.

Guerrero not only got four base hits, but he hit his league leading 17th home run of the season. It was a three-run shot off Sandy Alcantara that put Toronto up 3-0, and it was a lead they would not relinquish all night long.

Right now, Guerrero Jr. is just a lone RBI behind Jose Abreu for the AL Triple Crown. Certainly, he’s in the chase. In this game, Robbie Ray struck out nine Marlins and got Toronto the victory to get them three games above .500 on the season.

Guerrero Jr. continues to be one of the most exciting players in all of baseball. It’s hard to imagine another player being considered for AL MVP with him playing this way. It looks like the guy is going to continue to rake, as the Buffalo Blue Jays continue to try to circle the wagons up north.
