Blue Jays Waste Two Homer Night from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Dunedin

[Box Score]

On Thursday night, the Toronto Blue Jays had the Boston Red Sox down to their final strike before losing the series on a JD Martinez two run home run. Then on Friday evening in Dunedin, the Blue Jays lost another extra innings heartbreaker in which Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got a couple knocks off Tyler Glasnow, including a home run.

The blast was 444 feet, his 12th of the year, and into the teeth of a pretty good wind. Equally important, everyone knows that Glasnow is one of the best starting pitchers in baseball. Guerrero Jr. handled the guy like he has everyone in 2021.

Still, no lead is safe in Dunedin at TD Ballpark. And late in the game, the Rays got a grand slam from Francisco Mejia.

Indeed, the Blue Jays would lose the battle. However in their final frame, Guerrero Jr. connected off Diego Castillo for his 13th home run of the year.

Tally it all up, and Guerrero Jr. has 13 home runs, a .338 average, 1.096 OPS, and 36 RBI to go with an 8-game hitting streak.

Also in this game, Marcus Semien hit his 11th home run and also doubled and tripled. At 23-20 and with all their division foes winning Friday night, the Jays are falling behind in the AL Central race due to some tough losses.
