Padres: Fernando Tatis Mothers Day Bomb in San Francisco

[Box Score]

What, you thought that the San Diego Padres were going to be swept by the San Francisco Giants on Sunday and Johnny Cueto? With this brash bunch, think again.

Jake Cronenworth hit a two run home run to put the Padres up 2-0. Then, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a 450-foot blast off Cueto to increase the lead to 4-0.

To me, this is the best team in the West and the entire National league. In time, they will prove this I believe. This was a game they had to have, and it’s worth note that Cueto had two losses last year, both were to the Padres. Therefore entering this one I put a large wager on San Diego, and it was a cakewalk almost from the beginning.

Chris Paddack wasn’t phenomenal but it was a more clean outing than usual in the win. The signature moment came from the Padres’ young star holding the pink bat on Mother’s Day.

The talk about the dead ball doesn’t seem quite as loud when players like Tatis are in the box.
