Padres: Joe Musgrove Fires First No-Hitter in San Diego Franchise History

[Box Score]

While it’s probable that Fernando Tatis Jr. is out for the year, the baseball Gods shined upon Joe Musgrove and the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

Indeed, Musgrove threw the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres history against the Texas Rangers. In addition, Musgrove grew up in San Diego rooting for the Padres.

Over the course of the outing, Musgrove struck out 10 Rangers batters and walked nobody. One thing we have always noticed about Musgrove, he’s a strike thrower. Now, he’s seemingly improved his whiff rate, and looking the part of an elite pitcher.

Finally, good for the Padres and Musgrove. It’s really unfortunate what happened to Fernando Tatis Jr., because they have the looks of a team that could give the Los Angeles Dodgers all they could handle.

Meanwhile, for the Rangers, they’re a mess. And we still aren’t sure how we feel about Globe Life Park.
