Certainly, it’s early. But Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays are making a statement with their play through the first series of the season against the New York Yankees. It didn’t take long for the Blue Jays to get the party started on Easter Sunday against Yankees starter Domingo German. Vladimir Guerrero has looked the part of a different hitter in 2021. Now, he got some air with his first home run of the season, a backside shot at The Stadium to put the Blue Jays up 1-0.

Randall Grichuk hit a two-run homer a short while later, and the Yankees got little going all day long. Julian Merryweather locked down his second save of the series for the Blue Jays, and Jordan Romano pitched the 8th inning in a set-up role. While the Jays don’t have much in the way of starting pitching, it should be noted that they have an underrated and possibly even elite bullpen.
