Braves: Ronald Acuña Jr. Strikes Again

[Box Score]

We spent Friday night raving and marveling about Ronald Acuña Jr., after he hit three home runs in his return. Then on Saturday evening in Atlanta, he led off the bottom of the first with more fireworks.

In fact, it was historic. First allow us to admire another incredible Ronnie bomb.

Now, that home run off poor Eric Fedde of the Washington Nationals set an Atlanta Braves franchise record for leadoff home runs. The previous record was held by legendary baseball man Felipe Alou.

Keep in mind that Acuña Jr. is still just 22 years of age and has a lot of home runs left ahead of him in his career. Still, this one counts as number nine for the season, and he’s done a ton of damage in a hurry.

While the Braves lost this game, they’re clearly headed towards the playoffs in the NL. There is a great chance they will once again end up division champions.

Finally, we say it often. With Acuña Jr. leading off every game, anything is possible for this team if they catch lightning in a bottle in a few weeks when October begins.
