Mets: Pete Alonso Homers, Collects Three Hits in Win vs. Washington

[Box Score]

Pete Alonso is off to a rough start in the 2020 season. In fact, he was given the night off in the Mets’ 2-1 loss to Max Scherzer and the Nationals on Tuesday night. Then, on Wednesday night, he emerged from the shadows to hit his third home run of the season.

In the Mets 11-6 win over Washington, they withstood a flurry of offense from Juan Soto. In all they used seven pitchers in nine innings to complete the victory. Now at just 8-11 on the season, the Mets have to get to .500 before they start to think about making a run at one of the at-large playoff spots.

Alonso heating up would obviously go a long ways towards that.
