Atlanta Braves Add Marcell Ozuna on 1-year Free Agent Deal

If you like the Atlanta Braves, 2020 just might be a big year for you. We like the Braves – they do things the right way – and they’re loading up. They signed Marcell Ozuna to a one-year free agent contract on Wednesday. The deal is for $18 million big ones. Here is the official press release from the Braves’ twitter account.

Ozuna will be looked to as a guy who helps replace Josh Donaldson. The general manager Alex Anthopoulos thinks Ozuna was unlucky in 2019.

“He ran into some bad luck last year. We think there’s a lot more in there. We think he can rebound to the season he had with the Marlins in 2017.”

The 29-year old hit .263 with 52 homers and a .779 OPS for the Cardinals over the past two seasons. He will play left field for the Braves, and certainly seems to be an imposing force in a lineup that already includes Ronald Acuña Jr. and Freddie Freeman among some others.

With a bolstered bullpen, and a team that got beat by the gadget Cardinals in a five-game series in the 2019 NLDS; Atlanta seems to be a team that could represent the NL in the World Series in 2020. They will definitely be able to knock down some fences.
