The first big news item for the Toronto Blue Jays comes from Jon Heyman, and it’s that the Jays have a decent shot of signing not only Edwin Encarnacion but also Hyun-Jin Ryu.
Jays are working hard to improve. Made competitive offers on Ryu, Encarnacion. Decent chance to sign at least EE.

In fact, big offers have went in to both players. Right now, Encarnacion has 414 career home runs. Therefore, signing him could be a nice drawing-ticket as he approaches 500 career home runs.
In addition, Blue Jays beat writer Ben Nicholson-Smith says that Toronto were in on Didi Gregorius. However, they didn’t even get public mention for being in on him.
Interesting note from Charlie Montoyo's @FAN590 appearance w/ Stephen Brunt & @ArashMadani yest
Montoyo says a couple weeks ago, when #BlueJays were pursuing a free agent, Bo Bichette told Jays "I'll play anywhere. Sign that guy." Montoyo: "That's the kind of kid this guy is"

Still, Bo Bichette was a nice key in this; saying he would play anywhere if the Jays pulled off the signing of Didi.
Free agent in question believed to be Didi Gregorius, who was on #BlueJays' radar before signing a one-year deal with the Phillies
