After it appeared like the Los Angeles Dodgers would be the lead dog for Madison Bumgarner, the veteran lefty has signed a 6-year, $85 million dollar contract with the Arizona DiamondBacks. This report came Sunday via Jeff Passan, who has been all over everything this winter.
BREAKING: Left-hander Madison Bumgarner and the Arizona Diamondbacks are nearing a five-year deal, sources familiar with the agreement tell ESPN.

Further, it’s a weird deal for Arizona. To me, Bumgarner felt more like a ‘finishing touch’ type piece rather than one that would head to Arizona or a spot where there is still some work to be done.
Over the course of his career, Bumgarner has 1,794 strikeouts, and a career record of 119-92 with a 3.13 ERA. Obviously everyone remembers the three World Series rings more than any other stat, and the fact that he can contribute with the bat.
