The 2019 Blue Jays Are Winning Bets

[Box Score]

[Toronto Star]

I took the Blue Jays on two seperate bets tonight against the Boston Red Sox, it was a pure line read play. All the money on the Sox who have quit and are talking about trading Mookie Betts for fucks sake. Yet the line drop was there, making the Red Sox more tempting.

I grabbed Toronto around +120, and then again +1.5 for -130. And it was never in doubt after the fourth inning.

While Wilmer Font opened admirably, Trent Thornton came in and dominated in the third inning. Thornton locked down his 5th win of the year by going five, striking out seven and walking only one. No runs allowed.

Vlad Jr. had just one hit in this game, but he made it count with the bases loaded. Along with a sac fly earlier in the game; he drove in three runs.

Rowdy Tellez also homered in this one for the second straight game.

The hapless Red Sox who fired Dave Dombrowski recently showed absolutely no spark. Alex Cora looked lifeless in the Boston dugout. Chico Devers and Brock Holt were the only two Red Sox with hits on the night.

And looking at the early line for tomorrow – one might expect that the Blue Jays get beat and do not sweep Boston. However, I can tell you that it’s looking early on like Toronto will indeed beat the Red Sox again tomorrow night for the sweep. Boston has clearly rotted from the core. You hate to see it and all, but the Red Sox who were dominant World Series Champions just a year ago have gone and done a complete 180 as much as anyone in the baseball world.

They have major problems, and a lot to fix. Toronto on the other hand has the forming of a good little nucleus that is taking shape day-by-day. They’re really a tough out right now as the season comes to a close, especially playing up in Toronto at Rogers Centre.
