Pete Alonso Hits Home Runs 46 and 47 In New York

[Box Score]

Pete Alonso is making a charge at 50 home runs, and possibly a Most Valuable Player Award in his rookie season. On Monday night, he slugged home runs 46 and 47.

What’s more, Alonso is on pace to break Aaron Judge’s rookie home run record.

At this point in 2017, Judge had hit only 39 homers. He then went on an absolute tear over his last 19 games, crushing 13 homers to break the rookie record. That record had been held for 30 years by Mark McGwire, who hit 49 homers for the Athletics in 1987.

Obviously, what Alonso has done in 2019 has been nothing short of incredible. I think there are a lot of home runs left in his bat in a long career ahead of him.
