Cody Bellinger Joins 40 Home Run Club

[Box Score]

Cody Bellinger took the MLB lead in home runs back on Wednesday afternoon in a 13-7 matinee loss to the Marlins. The blast was an upper-tank shot at Marlins Park in Miami. Furthermore, it gave Bellinger a career-high of 40 home runs which bests his previous career high of his rookie year total of 39.

Here it is, in all it’s bomb glory.

Now Bellinger has about a month and a half to hit 10 more home runs to get to that big number of 50. That should be the target. It would represent the Dodgers’ franchise record. No one forgets a 50 home run season, no matter what else happens. If he does that, he should be able to lock in the MVP award.

Walker Buehler was not sharp in this one. Max Muncy and Corey Seager also homered. The Dodgers have a huge weekend series with the Braves upcoming.
