Vlad Jr. wins AL POTW

Well deserved, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has won American League Player of the Week honors for the week that was. While this was the second time he’s taken down the award, it couldn’t have come at a more important juncture for the rookie slugger.

Guerrero entered the second half off the Home Run Derby where he showed out scuffling a bit. Since then, he’s really taken off; reaching base in 16-straight ballgames entering Monday night against the Rays.

This past week, La Plakata played six games, hitting .500 (13-for-26) and scoring five runs, three doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI and two walks.

Overall, he’s just having better at-bats in the middle of the Toronto lineup. He’s showing his talent in a big way and completely dominating. We will continue our VGJ coverage on a nightly basis, as long as he’s doing his thing. Because let’s face it- this is good for baseball and the sport – a guy who can flat out rake that attracts interest in three countries.
