I probably shouldn’t have went to sleep early – and my dad shouldn’t have left early – especially on a holiday eve.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – JULY 03: Cody Bellinger #35 of the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrates his walk off solo homerun, for a 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, during the tenth inning at Dodger Stadium on July 03, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

Cody Bellinger had an MVP type night at Dodger Stadium, and the Los Angeles Dodgers improved to 59-29. It was a historic night for Bellinger and the Dodgers, who won their 5th straight game on a walk-off at Dodger Stadium.

It wouldn’t have happened if not for Matt Beaty tying the game in the 9th inning with an RBI single. Props to them for putting up a little fight on the heel of the walk-off-walk.

Bellinger homered in the second inning off Merrill Kelly, and then Walker Buehler went to work on the Dodgers with Walker Buehler doing the same. Buehler struck out nine and walked no one, but allowed a home run to Christian Walker and a single to Ketel Marte that went down as his only mistakes.

Bellinger homered again in the 10th off Wilton Lopez, a guy who had shown up Joc Pederson weeks earlier in Arizona. Bellinger’s home run gave him the Dodgers all-time record for home runs before an All-Star Break, and it was his longest home run of the 2019 season.
