Dodgers Lose 5th Straight, This Time to Marlins

[Box Score]

On the night Justin Turner and Logan Forsythe returned, the Dodgers were flat. They wasted six innings of quality Alex Wood – still a winless pitcher in the year 2018 – and have now lost five straight games to the likes of the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins.

Baseball is strange.

The Dodgers are 2-11 this season when facing a pitcher who begins the game with an ERA over 5.00 or more. Wei-Yin Chen’s was over 10.00, and the Dodgers couldn’t muster a run.

Yasiel Puig homered in his second straight game. Cody Bellinger hit a moonshot in the ninth off Brad Ziegler, his sixth. But other than that, the Dodgers offense was uninspired and flat. Justin Turner did get a base hit, but the Dodgers still looked like a team trying to gain their footing.

J.T. Chargois again entered in a close 2-1 ballgame, and J.T. Realmuto made Dave Roberts and the Dodgers pay. His double with two outs made the score 3-1, and essentially put the Dodgers down for the night. Coupled with an Arizona win, the Dodgers are 8.5 games out in the division.
