Giancarlo Stanton has 52 Home Runs

Giancarlo Stanton hit his 52nd home run of 2017 on Saturday night in Miami. He’s now hit 31 home runs since July 4th.

The Marlins beat the Phillies 10-9. The Marlins moved to 66-67 on the season. They’re still officially but unofficially in the National League Wildcard race, five games back and with a few teams to leapfrog. They would need a long and unlikely winning streak.

As we approach the one year anniversary of Jose Fernandez’s tragic death, Stanton has done an incredible job of putting this out of Marlins’ fans memories with one of the greatest power seasons in the last few decades.

You just hope as a baseball fan that the Marlins build around the guy and don’t move him somewhere else. Yes, his contract is big. Yes, it could “hamper” their ability to build a more complete and cheap team. It’s probably marginal to the amount of asses he’s putting in those seats. But if you’re not going to build around a guy like this in his prime, you just aren’t trying.

I don’t want to live in a world where Giancarlo isn’t swatting bombs in Miami. This has been nothing short of incredible.
