The Reds are just in that purgatory where you know they’re going to be one of the worst teams in baseball; and when you reside yourself to that fact, and that there’s just not much there, they can kind of appear fun in such an ugly way.

Tonight, Brandon Finnegan was in the perfect spot against a Phillies team that is offensively challenged on a nasty weather night and he struck out nine hitters in seven shutout innings, walking none on 88 pitches.

There are definitely four to five interesting things about the Reds this season. Three of them are Finnegan, Joey Votto, and Raisel Iglesias. They all played a key role in the win.

Votto broke the tie with a home run to right field. Votto feels like a ‘Last of the Mohicans’ type in his role. But the guy can still hit.

Raisel Iglesias threw the ninth, striking out two in earning his first save. The Reds won the game 2-0, and might be at .500 the only time this season. Finnegan at one point retired 19 in a row. Dominant stuff.

This is all to the chagrin of Reds’ management. They want to lose and land a high draft pick so they sent these lambs to slaughter this year and started Scott Feldman on Opening Day.

For one night, the Reds were the Kings of the Queen City in 2017.
