Screenshots from a strange day in baseball

This, the day that Max Scherzer tied Roger Clemens with 20 strikeouts in a single game (Nationals win 3-2).

There were all kinds of odd things around the game.

Kenta Maeda had allowed three home runs in 38 innings so far this year. In five innings at Dodger Stadium, Noah Syndergaard has tagged him twice.

Jackie Bradley drove in six more runs, homering twice against the lowly A’s. He has 13 RBI in his last three games. From the nine hole, by the way.

Nolan Arenado hit his MLB leading 13th home run in a matinee against the DiamondBacks, his 4th in nine games against them this season. It won the Rockies the game 8-7.

Carlos Correa had two key hits today, and scored the winning run. But he made about four plays with his glove that really allowed the Astros to win in 16 against the Indians. This one was his best of the day, robbing Yan Gomes of a single.

Josh Harrison returned to his roots to homer off Tony Cingrani; near where his family was sitting. This tied the game at 4-4 and the Reds of course lost the game 5-4 an inning later.

I don’t know what is more odd: the Padres beating the mighty Cubs twice at Wrigley in a double header; Fernando Rodney picking up two saves and firing his arrow twice in the same day; or the fact that he hasn’t allowed a run this season.
