Now for the item that you all came to get a piece of, Monday’s free pick. Remember, all we pick here are winners. Parlay it at your own risk with something you like from the menu, or take it straight up and make some money. Tonight’s pick is actually an underdog, provided to you in a weather-safe environment.

Nathan Eovaldi and the Miami Marlins oppose the Philadelphia Phillies and “Fausto Carmona” (as FanGraphs still calls him) or Roberto Hernandez to the more common-folk. The Marlins head into this game as an underdog, checking in as a +100 even money dog for your $100 wager.

The reason we like the Marlins tonight is simple: several Miami hitters are projected to really like what Fausto Carmona is cooking up on this Monday evening for a late supper.

Giancarlo Stanton comes in as the 7th ranked overall wOBA (weighted on-base average) hitter in the projection system against Carmona. His lineup mates Garrett Jones (33rd) and Marcell Ozuna (38th) aren’t too shabby themselves. It’s also worth taking into consideration that Jarrod Saltamacchia and Derek Dietrich hammer pitchers like Carmona – guys with middle of the road righty stuff. It’s in a hitter’s park, and we think Eovaldi rebounds just enough for the Marlins to steal one on the road handily. Eovaldi’s weakness is the left-handed batter of course (he’s handled righties to a .210 opposing average). On the road Eovaldi is allowing lefties to hit .281 against him, nearly forty points less than he allows lefties to hit against him in Miami.

OUR PICK: Marlins +100
