Your Saturday Baseball Open Thread

It’s September 1st and summer officially ends this weekend. Ever so slightly it feels like fall outside. There’s a nip in the air that lets you know it’s time for the kids to go back to school and the crowds at ballparks to get smaller during the week.

Time marches on for the 2012 Cincinnati Reds who I believe are carving out some history right in front of our eyes. Last night they won 9-3 in Houston.  Jay Bruce did what Jay Bruce often does in Houston, hitting a majestic no-doubter to right-center for his 28th home run of the season.

When I woke up this morning, I just kept thinking about how there was only one month left of my wonderful baseball season.

Baseball season is funny like that. In some ways Opening Day seems like it was just yesterday. When you think about all that’s taken place in between, it can seem like an eternity ago.

Football is creeping in on our sport, so enjoy these weekend games as much as you can while you can. Almost another season that will only exist in our memories. That said, it’s not all doom and gloom because I think that the 2012 postseason is going to have some moments in it that you will never forget. I think it’s going to be an epic postseason.

Happy Saturday all baseball fans.
