Randy Johnson is coming off the DL tonight and will be starting against the San Francisco Giants. Johnson’s role is clear. He isn’t supposed to be the #1 or #2 anymore, they just need him to be a solid #3 or #4 and make his starts for the rest of the season. When you can run out Randy Johnson; even the version who is a bit older than when he was in his heyday a decade ago against other 3’s and 4’s around the National League, you’re going to be pretty good. It will be interesting to see if Johnson can have a better opening act than that of Francisco Liriano.
