Rhil Rizzuto 1917-2007

The oldest living Hall of Famer, Phil Rizzuto; nicknamed ‘scooter’, has died. He was the 1950 American League MVP, a career .273 hitter with 1588 hits and 877 runs scored, Rizzuto played for the Yankees his entire 13 year career, almost always as a shortstop.

A 5 time all-star, Rizzuto was noted for strong defense, “small ball” skills and clutch hitting, which helped the Yankees win seven World Series.
