Indians on the warpath

Last night the Cleveland Indians just took care of business. The Tribe got homeruns from Victor Martinez, Casey Blake, and Josh Barfield to top the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park 7 to 4 in the series opener of what some are calling the biggest series of the season.
Paul Byrd improved quietly to 5-1 on the season, which could be a testament to how good this team really is. Paul Byrd has been consistent and solid but he is having some serious success this season.
The fact remains that the Tribe’s two biggest offensive forces; Grady Sizemore and Travis Hafner; haven’t even really hit their stride with the bats yet. When and if they do and if they put the numbers up they are expected to, this team is going to win the AL Central and possibly the entire American league.
Grady Sizemore added 2 hits and a two-out RBI, and his 16th stolen base of the year. Joe Borowski the incumbent earned his 16th save of the season. The next two games are on national television, and clearly the nation realizes (or at least the media/TV schedulers) that this series is very prominent. In watching the game, I can say that both these teams played very hard and seemed to have the focus that a post season game would bring. I’m excited to see the next two games of this series and see if the Indians can show what kind of team they are.
