Welcome to Opening Day!

With Opening Day finally here it is time for Diamond Hoggers to present George’s 2007 MLB predictions. He has done extensive reseach which is why they are posted at the last minute. This should be a national holiday because this is such a special day. Finally our dormant fantasy players will soon come alive and some of our picks will come out with a running start and our other studs will open the first month looking like a 19th round pick. But thats why we love baseball in general, because you never know whats going to happen. Through out the season Diamond Hoggers will provide tips that could help you win your fantasy league and keep you updated on hot topics around the league that no one else covers, be sure to check in.

AL EAST:
New York Yankees
Boston Red Sox *Wild Card

Baltimore Orioles
Toronto Blue Jays
Tampa Bay Devil Rays

The Yankees are going to go through there ups and downs throughout the year, but they will get thier 95 wins and edge Boston in the season long match ups. I also predict a comeback year for Pavano with 170+ inn. 14 wins with low 4 ERA. Baltimore will do some damage but not enough to edge the Red Sox for second place.

AL CENTRAL:
Detroit Tigers

Cleveland Indians
Chicago White Sox
Minnesota Twins
Kansas City Royals

Tigers will continue to dominate with their strong pitching and with a addition of Sheffield they will get the added power they need. Cleveland will be an exciting team to watch but they will not stay consistant enough to make the playoffs this year. I don’ think their pitching will be strong enough to out pitch the White Sox, Twins or Tigers.

AL WEST:
Anaheim Angels

Oakland Athletics
Texas Rangers
Seattle Mariners

The Angels will are a solid team and will be tough to beat, plus the West seems a little weak this year. The Atheletics have the potiencial to have a good run during the year, but they are not a sure pick like the Angels. The Angels will beat the Tigers and become AL Champions again.

NL EAST:
New York Mets
Philadelphia Phillies
Atlanta Braves
Florida Marlins
Washington Nationals

The Mets are going to have another strong season and the Braves and the Phillies will be fighting for the second spot, both have an equal chance to finish in second. The Braves youngsters will have to step in up in order for them to be successful. The Phillies will have to stay healthy and Howard needs to have another big season, which will be challenging since most pitchers will not give him much to hit.

NL CENTRAL:
Chicago Cubs
St. Louis Cardinals*Wild Card
Houston Astros

Cincinnati Reds
Milwaukee Brewers
Pittsburgh Pirates

The Cubbies will dominate the league and have an easy summer as they comfortably sit in first. The Cardinals will have antoher strong season and Puljos will continue raping NL pitchers.

NL WEST:
Los Angeles Dodgers
San Diego Padres
San Francisco Giants
Arizona Diamondbacks

Well I’m not on the same page as Uncle Frank here. The Diamondbacks will finish last because Randy Johnson will only pitch about 3.2 innings a game. The Dodgers will have 1st place wrapped up by the end of July and will be NL Champions edging the Mets.

AL MVP: A-Rod NYY
NL MVP: Jose Reyes NYM
AL CY YOUNG: Johan Santana MIN
NL CY YOUNG: Carlos Zambrano CHI
